Students in the Inclusion Program spend the majority of their day in the general
education classroom.
Students receive accommodation plans, IEPs, or behavior plans in order to suc-
ceed in the classroom.
Students with an IEP will receive extra academic or behavioural support within
the classroom setting or may be pulled out for short periods of time throught the
week.
Students may receive an Individual Education Plan (IEP) as needed. An IEP is a plan that is
tailored to each student so that he/she can learn in a way that is best suited to his/her
needs. The IEP lasts for one calendar year and will be reviewed throughout that year to
ensure the student’s progress toward meeting his/her goals. IEPs can be for academic
and/or behavior.
IEPs include:
Present Level of Preformance: A detailed description of the students’ current academic
achievement, functional performance, strengths, and weaknesses, often including assess-
ments, evaluations, MAP testing results and observations. The annual goals and objectives are
created from this information.
Annual Goals and Objectives: Measurable and specific academic, behavioral and/or speech
goals designed to address the students’ needs. These goals are broken into smaller objectives
or benchmarks to track the progress over time.
Accommodations: Specific adjustments to the learning environment, curriculum, instruction
and assessment to support the students’ participation and progress in accessing their learning
