The Middle School program is comprised of Grades 6 - 8
with two classes in each grade. Each student partici-
pates in the following subjects: English, Mathematics,
Science, and Social Studies. Additionally, students have
specialist subjects: Islamic Studies, Arabic Language,
Holy Quran, and specialist subjects such as Physical
Education, Health, Music, Art, and IT. The middle school
department works as a team, sharing ideas and prob-
lem-solving when needed. Among the middle school
staff there is a strong, positive and unified approach
towards the education of our students. Communicating
positively and clearly to parents is a goal of the depart-
ment, as well as creating a nurturing environment to
encourage student growth.
Assessment is ongoing, with a variety of assessment types
ulitized to check student understanding and application of
key skills. As such, students are assessed via quizzes, tests,
exams, classwork tasks, projects, and presentations,
among other things. Students are expected to participate
in PSAT and MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) testing.
Students also participate in semester exams at the end of
each semester for all academic courses. The first exams
are in December and the second exam is in May of each
school year. Progress reports/report cards are issued four
times throughout the school year, using the PowerSchool
system.
