Admissions Policy

General Guidelines

  • In the beginning of December, BIS will start receiving admissions applications for the school year 2019-2020. Seats are limited; open slots are as listed below:

Division Available Seats
KG1 32
KG2 Waiting List
GRADE 1 Waiting List
GRADE 2 1
GRADE 3 9
GRADE 4 18
GRADE 5 17
  • Admissions door will remain open until all the above spaces are filled.
  • Once the above number of seats for any particular grade is filled, applications for that grade will only be accepted on a waiting list basis.

Acceptance Criteria

  • BIS' admissions procedures ensure we only admit students to whom we can provide an education.
  • Academic and social development are important consideration for enrollment. Within these general criteria, priority for available vacancies is given to siblings of current students, staff members’ children and then to children of new families.
  • Students entering BIS must have sufficient knowledge of English in order to meet the instructional demands of the grade level in which they apply. This is due to the fact that all subjects are taught in English except Arabic and Islamic Studies. For non-Arab students, Arabic as a Foreign Language (AFL) is offered.
  • In line with BIS’ nondiscriminatory policy, admissions is conditional upon successful admissions evaluation results and the availability of places; regardless of gender, nationality, religion, or race.
  • When the capacity of each class is reached, students meeting the acceptance criteria, but not admitted, will be placed on a waiting list in case an opening occurs. The relevant family will then be contacted.
  • Applications to be considered for the following school year must be resubmitted during the next registration period in order for the student to be re-evaluated.
